NAPAC DMVPD serves as the central political action committee for Nigerians living in the Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania and D.C. area — committed to strengthening civic participation, amplifying our collective voice, and partnering with leaders who shape our future.
We answered some burning questions we think you might have.
NAPAC DMVPD is the regional branch of the Nigerian American Public Affairs Committee serving Delaware, Maryland, Virginia, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C. We focus on strengthening civic engagement and political participation within the Nigerian American community.
No. We are strictly non-partisan. We do not affiliate with or promote any political party. Our focus is on issues, leadership, and community representation—not party politics.
We evaluate candidates based on values, competence, and alignment with the interests of the Nigerian American community—not their party. We may support Nigerian American candidates and occasionally non-Nigerian candidates whose policy positions align with issues affecting our community.
Endorsements are based on issue alignment, track record, community impact, and the candidate’s commitment to policies that benefit Nigerian Americans. A committee reviews each candidate through a transparent evaluation process.
You can participate by joining our membership, attending events, volunteering on campaigns, contributing to policy discussions, and supporting initiatives that empower Nigerian voices in public affairs.
While the chapter focuses on DMVPD states, membership is open to anyone interested in advancing Nigerian American civic advocacy at the state and national level.
Membership is open to Nigerians, Nigerian Americans, allies, and anyone who believes in strengthening civic engagement and representation for our community.
Our work includes:
• Developing and mentoring emerging Nigerian American leaders
• Hosting civic education and community engagement programs
• Meeting with policymakers and government agencies
• Evaluating candidates for potential support
• Advocating on issues that affect Nigerian American families across the region
The DMV region has one of the highest concentrations of Nigerian and Nigerian-American professionals in the country and sits close to the U.S. Capitol. This creates a strategic opportunity to engage policymakers, mobilize voters, and influence issues that impact our community.
We support Nigerian Americans pursuing public office and any candidate whose platform, values, and policy priorities align with the needs of our diaspora community—regardless of party affiliation.
We are one of several state-based PACs under NAPAC USA. Each state chapter operates autonomously while collaborating on national issues, strategic priorities, and nationwide advocacy initiatives.
We provide mentorship, political education, networking opportunities, visibility for community leaders, and support for Nigerian Americans exploring political appointments and elected positions.
Donations can be made online through our secure portal. Contributions help fund community outreach, candidate support, policy education programs, youth engagement, and chapter operations.
